Edinburgh Zoo celebrates 100 years!
Famed for it's daily Penguin Parade, Edinburgh Zoo is owned by The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
The RZSS was found 100 years ago, in March 1909, and Edinburgh Zoo opened in July 1913. Edinburgh Zoo is one of Europe's leading centres of conservation, education and research and reports say that talks are far advanced in securing one or more pandas for the zoo.
The Budongo Trail, a special enclosure for up to 40 chimpanzees, represents a £5.65 million investment by Edinburgh Zoo and it should become the jewel in the crown for the 650,000 visitors who come to the Zoo each year. The Penguins are up for the challenge!
